DESCRIPTION:
In The Zones of Regulation basic training course participants will become acquainted with the Zone’s framework, provided background on why it is successful with learners and trained how to apply the popular curriculum. This introductory training will highlight key components of the curriculum, giving you the confidence to get started with implementation or give a creative boost if you are already on your Zones journey. In addition to exploring critical lessons, participants will develop a solid understanding of what the four Zones of Regulation are, delve into tools to support regulation and review practice strategies to ensure implementation with fidelity. In this training participants will learn more about how the latest teachings around The Zones of Regulation framework, including breaking down the steps of regulation into a cognitive pathway that can be easily taught to both neurodiverse and neurotypical learners. Visuals, videos and student work samples are shared to illustrate the common language and visual system The Zones utilizes to build the foundational, life-long skill of self-regulation (2.75 clock hours + 15 minute break = 3 hour day). Leah created The Zones of Regulation®, a concept designed to teach self-regulation, and is author of the book and apps by the same name (2011, Social Thinking Publishing; 2013 &2016 Selosoft, Inc). In addition to working with students, she provides trainings and consultation to parents and professionals and offers workshops on the Zones to groups around the world.

Elizabeth Sautter, M.A. CCC, is a licensed speech and language pathologist and co-director/co-owner of Communication Works, a private practice offering speech, language, and social support. Elizabeth has worked with Leah Kuypers in the clinic setting, supporting clients and running group therapy, and creating Zones materials and resources. Elizabeth conducts trainings for parents/caregivers and professionals and is a Zones Collaborative Trainer.
