Since its debut in 2011, the original Zones of Regulation curriculum has made a remarkable impact, reaching educators, caregivers, and therapists worldwide, with over 400,000 copies sold. The Zones has come to life in countless classrooms and homes thanks to all of you who have championed The Zones in your settings, adding your creative touches and tailoring it to your learners.

We’ve been listening closely to your feedback and staying on top of the latest research to understand what works best for learners. To meet your evolving needs, we’re excited to introduce the newest resource from our team—The Zones of Regulation Digital Curriculum, released in 2024. To support your transition, we’re here to answer some of the most frequently asked questions and guide you through making the most of this dynamic, updated approach.

 

How does the content in the Digital Curriculum align with the original Curriculum Book?

The Digital Curriculum is organized into concepts, which are like units, to explore over multiple sessions, days, or weeks with your learners. There are 10 main concepts plus a Tool of the Week section, with hundreds of brand-new activities, tool strategies, and visuals to teach, practice, reinforce, and extend learning.

Building an understanding of what regulation is and its relationship to our well-being.

A more comprehensive approach to noticing our body signals (interoception).

A structured routine to build self-awareness and practice mindfulness.

Exploring Sparks:

Building awareness of things that “spark” our strong joyful feelings and impact our regulation.

Tool of the Week:

A daily practice routine to teach an ALL NEW collection of regulation tools.

The Zones Pathway:

A step-by-step process to follow for regulation.

Do I need to scrap all my old Zones visuals and materials?

You are welcome to keep using your current materials, but we think you’ll love that the new Digital Curriculum has 100+ newly designed posters, communication tools, and activities that are more diverse and differentiated for a wider age range. Here’s a small sample!
